Feature Requests & Ideas

Sana customers and partners can share ideas with us or vote on other people’s ideas. Our product team is listening. Please remember that this site is only for feature suggestions and ideas!

Have an idea?

You've used all your votes and won't be able to post a new idea, but you can still search and comment on existing ideas.

There are two ways to get more votes:

  • When an admin closes an idea you've voted on, you'll get your votes back from that idea.
  • You can remove your votes from an open idea you support.
  • To see ideas you have already voted on, select the "My feedback" filter and select "My open ideas".

  1. Use the SMTP Sender option on form mails

All of the form mails come from the common address of the store. If you hit Reply, you are sending the response back to the store, not the customer! The Sender option would send replies to the customer and allow software like "CRM for Outlook" for SAP B1 to match the customer email address to a Business Partner automatically. No more guessing which BP has sent the email!

  2. Override the product name on the store

Aside from language translations, it would be good if we could override the item name. We can kind of do it on product detail pages with the Title field but List/Search pages still use the Item Name from ERP. This might include info or codes that help our internal processing but look ugly on a customer facing site. If running multiple sites from one ERP, it could allow a "trade-speak" name on B2B-focussed sites and a more friendly name on B2C sites.

  3. Allow updating of UDF when posting Sales Order

The Customer Account creation allows you to update UDFs on the BP Master Data. It would be great if we could have an admin function where we could select a UDF from Marketing Documents and give a value e.g. a UDF for Source of Order to be set to "W" for Web.

  4. Make the exploded view page functionality (cf. northkiteboarding) available as an add-on

    Example: https://shop.northkiteboarding.com/en-gb/spareparts_kites/spareparts_rebel2018

This would suit a lot of our customers with B2B or B2C spare parts webshops, who are struggling with how to clearly show spare parts of a BOM article, being able to go the spare part product page to order it by clicking on an area of an an exploded view image.

  5. Show B2B / B2C when connecting a shop account to an ERP customer

When I create a shop account and connect the shop account to a customer in the ERP, I think it would be great if I could see if the customer is B2B or B2C in the ERP

  6. Register and login with Google, Facebook, PayPal etc.

This would lower the threshold for new users to create an account and make it easier for existing users to sign in thus speeding up the checkout.

  7. Use a front-end framework

Using a third-party modular front-end framework (e.g. http://foundation.zurb.com/) would provide design pack developers with a well documented and easily expandable system. The current system's functionality is restricted to the default design pack's use case. It's not modular; overwriting store.css in a custom design pack basically overwrites all styles; it's not possible to overwrite just a single component. It's badly structured; styles are spread over store.css and z-mobile.css. It's confusing; z-mobile.css contains styles for mobile but also desktop and tablet (this was fixed in Sana v9.2.0 though). Using a third-party framework would fix all this. These are generally well documented,…

[SANA PRODUCT] We are currently implementing ReactJS as our front-end framework. We expect to have a full re-implementation of our front-end by the end of 2019. We are spending a significant portion of our development capacity to this project.

It’s a big and ambitious project, but we are confident that it will add a lot of value in terms of stability and performance. I recommend you following our Roadmap Portal (roadmap.sana-commerce.com) for the latest updates.

  8. Add option to crop images

Add an option to crop an image exactly to the defined size. This option could be set using an additional attribute on the size definition in the web.config file.

  9. Show prices and estimated shipping cost based on user location

Currently the user needs to set an address in the checkout for the webstore to display prices for this location (i.e. including or excluding taxes). It would be nice to have a location selection in the webstore similar to the language selection. Additionally there could be an option where a new visitor is presented with a specific landing page to select a country to enforce the correct prices to be displayed. This could be automated based on the user's IP address (e.g. using the free GeoLite database: http://dev.maxmind.com/geoip/geoip2/geolite2/). Default languages could be set for each country so that a…

  10. Add standard fields for HTML id and class attributes to every content block

Setting an HTML ID or class definition on specific content blocks would allow different styling for these specific content blocks. These properties should be added to the ContentBlockBase class so that they are available on all types of content blocks.

  11. Add multipliers for image sizes for different pixel ratios

In addition to the various image sizes defined for resizing images this could be used to create larger additional copies for high-resolution screens with different pixel ratios as used on mobile phones, tablets and modern desktop computers and laptops. The images could use a suffix to the filename which shows the pixel ratio they are targeted at (e.g. image.jpg and image@2x.jpg). The multipliers could be defined in a similar way as additional image sizes in the web.config file.

  12. Use another table for related items instead of Item substitution entry

For now the table Item substitution entry is used to set-up related items. Some of our customers use Item substitutions and therefor we interfere with their business flow when setting up related products for Sana.

It would make more sense to use a specific table for this

  13. Flexy Page for Footer

Footer should be more customizable without having to create a new design package.
It would be great to have the possibility to setup a Flexy Page for the Footer like is done for the Home Page.

  14. Your contact person

when customer logs into the shop it would be a great feature, if we show the customer on every shop page (f.e. in a webpart) the customer individual contact person details (sales agent from erp system, with contact details incl. image)

  15. bpos

BOPS - Buy online default store address so the customer does not have to manually enter.

Suggested solutions: A few ideas for a solutions are noted below:

    1. Allow a user to select a store as pickup when the customer is on the item (they can use your existing store look up to find a store closest to them). This would allow for a user (customer) to select a store that offers the inventory and validate the inventory is in stock and available for pickup.

    2. Another option would be to allow a user (customer) to select the mode of…

  16. Show windows language ID in language settings

In the admin it would be nice if you can see which windows language ID is used in the language settings, if you have installed multiple English language packs it isn't always clear which windows language ID in NAV should be used.

  17. Extent functionality blanket sales order

In the standard functionality only one sales agreement can be applied to a shopping cart. If you want to use several sales agreements, you will need to create multiple orders.

We have a lot of customers which are using multiple blanket sales orders for 1 item, so when you will create a sales order there is the possibility to use several blanket order in the specific order. So you will not create multiple order.

When you will select several blanket sales order we have configured in NAV that the first blanket sales order what will pop up, is the oldest…

  18. Customers Customer Mode

it would be cool if our b2b customers could switch to a end customer mode (f.e. with a switch button).

the business case would be the following. Many times our customers uses our shop in meetings with their customers. But they don't want, that the end customer see their purch prices. so it would be usefull, if the sana shop user can configure some charges which would be added to the prices (f.e. individuall charges for individual items or item categorys)

another cool feature would be if the shop user could also configure the look and feel of the shop…

  19. Interactive Quotes

it would be a great feature, that customers would be able to send quotes from their erp system as a link to their customers (not as pdf attachment).

For the customers the quote should look like similar like the pdf-quote (only interactive).
The customer should have the possibility to cancel, accept the quote, change quantities, change delivery adress, and so on.
this would be a great feature for b2b customers.

  20. Mailing a an order/quote confirmation also to the Sales Agents

When an order or a quote is made in Sana, the sales agent of the client (when known) should also receive this mail.

    This should be an option
